This three-session course introduces you to drypoint etching using perspex sheets as printing plates. Across the first session, you’ll learn the basic techniques using an A6 piece of perspex, creating your first plate and printing from it during the same session. You’ll then progress to a larger piece of perspex over the following two sessions, giving you more space to develop your ideas and explore the possibilities of the technique.
All printing will take place on our new Gunning etching press, allowing you to experience the distinctive marks, textures and rich lines that make drypoint such an exciting process. The course is open to all ability levels, from complete beginners to experienced etchers. All basic materials, equipment and facilities are included, with additional perspex, papers and specialist materials available to purchase if you wish to develop your work further.
