Drawing from the Imagination - The Drawing Series
Tue 15th Dec | 2pm–5pm
What happens when we stop looking at an image and start imagining one? In this workshop, we’ll explore drawing from the imagination using a piece of literary text as our starting point. You’ll translate words, descriptions and feelings into a visual composition, considering how to create a scene that communicates more than simply what something looks like.
We’ll challenge the idea that observation is the only route to a successful drawing and explore how imagination and observation can work together. You’ll have the option to introduce observational drawing as a support for your imagined composition, while focusing on atmosphere, feeling and visual storytelling. The workshop is open to all ability levels and is designed to encourage experimentation and creative freedom. Materials and equipment are provided.
