Monotype: Paint & Press

£45.00

Dates: Thu 2nd, 9th & 16th July | 6pm - 9pm

Monotype is a unique printmaking process that creates expressive, one-of-a-kind prints. Using ink or paint on smooth surfaces such as glass, metal or acrylic, we’ll transfer images onto paper using our Victorian Albion Press.

This process is painterly, experimental and perfect for anyone interested in looser or more expressive image-making. During the session, we’ll look at examples from artists working in monotype, explore found imagery and objects for inspiration and experiment with different ways of creating marks and textures.

No experience is needed, and all basic materials will be provided. If you’d like a deeper introduction to monotype, feel free to sign up for multiple sessions to explore additional techniques.

If you enjoy this workshop, let us know, as we’d love to develop a longer 5 to 10-week course exploring monotype printmaking further.

You will learn:

  • How to create expressive monotype prints

  • Techniques for applying ink, preparing paper and printing

  • Ways to develop imagery through texture, layering and experimentation
