In these two 3-hour workshops, you’ll learn the foundations of hard-back bookbinding and create your own durable sketchbook to take home. Alongside practical demonstrations, we’ll share examples of artists and radical collectives who have used bookbinding as a tool for storytelling, archiving and sharing knowledge.
We’ll also introduce other bookbinding techniques that could be explored in future workshops.
No experience is needed, and all basic materials will be provided. Additional materials, including hand-marbled papers made by Samsam, will also be available if you’d like to personalise your book. You may also wish to join one of our paper marbling workshops and use your own marbled papers for your sketchbook.
Please note, you will need to attend both evening sessions to complete your hard-back book.
